     Rubber is a highly elastic polymer material with reversible deformation. It is elastic at room temperature.      Rubber is divided into natural rubber and synthetic rubber two kinds. Natural rubber is extracted from rubber trees, rubber plants and other plants after processing; Synthetic rubber is obtained by polymerization of various monomers.      The word rubber comes from the Indian word cau-uchu, meaning "weeping tree". Natural rubber is made by the rubber latex of the three-leaf rubber tree after solidification and drying. The three-leaf rubber tree provides the most commercial rubber. It secretes a large amount of SAP containing rubber emulsion when it is injured, such as when the bark of the stem is cut open.

     In addition, FIG trees and some plants in the Euphorbia family also provide rubber. Germany tried to obtain rubber from these plants during World War II when its supply was cut off, but later switched to producing synthetic rubber.

     The first rubber trees grew in South America, but after artificial transplantation, a large number of rubber trees have been planted in Southeast Asia. In fact, Asia has become the most important source of rubber.
